Warner Bros. reveals ‘Joker’ sequel, ‘Beetlejuice 2’ and more at CinemaCon (Part-2).

A lot of people like plot movies,” Costner added. “I like journey movies.” “Horizon: An American Saga” will premiere at Cannes next month. Tim Burton promoted "Beetlejuice," the sequel to his 1988 hit, which stars Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, and Justin Theroux. It opens in theaters Sept. 5.

Burton always connected with Lydia Deetz and wanted to know what happened to the Deetz women throughout the years. He was glad Ryder, O'Hara, and Keaton were on board. Burton: “It was like a weird family reunion. Keaton said they had debated the possibility for years and finally got it perfect. This is good. Keaton said it's great. Indeed, it's great.”

Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho released a trailer for his Jan. 2025 feature “Mickey 17,” starring Robert Pattinson. “It’s about a simple man who ends up saving the world,” the “Parasite” filmmaker stated through a translator. “A very strange hero’s journey.”

Pattinson deemed the tale odd, humorous, and surreal. He stated, “I was told, you're going to love the script, but the part is impossible.”

Peter Safran and James Gunn are rebuilding Warner Bros.' DC superhero universe, filming “Superman” in Atlanta for a summer 2025 release. The Sundance-acquired documentary about Christopher Reeve, the original cinematic Superman, will be released first. September brings “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” to theaters.

Warner Bros. has restored itself as a critical element of the movie theater ecosystem three years after its former bosses decided to distribute all of its pictures day-and-date in theaters and on its streaming service.

It was unusual for them to release three blockbuster films in December: “Wonka,” “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” and “The Color Purple.” Theater owners agreed, saying they needed more films. Domestic distribution head Jeff Goldstein claimed those movies grossed over $1 billion globally and accounted for 50% of Christmas box revenue.

The box office has been strong this year, with “Wonka” and “Dune: Part Two” making over $600 million globally and “Godzilla x Kong” surpassing $300 million. “Storytelling is our business,” Goldstein remarked. We aim to make big, entertaining event films.
