A New York man was accused of murdering a friend and storing his dismembered body in a refrigerator for over two years prior to his court appearance Monday.
Nicholas McGee, 45, denies murder, robbery, evidence tampering, and corpse concealment. His hearing was scheduled for Monday, according to court records.
In Kings Supreme Criminal Court in Brooklyn on Friday, a judge ordered McGee kept without bail after his pleas, documents show. Heather Stines, 45, his wife, was also charged. She was imprisoned without bail for concealing a corpse, delaying prosecution, and tampering with evidence.
Kawsheen Gelzer, 39, was stabbed in March 2022 while sleeping on a sofa in McGee's Flatbush apartment, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
The victim awoke and fought back, but he died from stab wounds and a hammer McGee grabbed as they grappled, the office said.
The agency said McGee removed pills from Gelzer's pocket, dismembered the victim with a saw and hammer, and put the head and torso in a refrigerator.
The office reported arms and legs were frozen. The DA's office stated the remains were located late January, almost two years later. According to prosecutors, Crime Stoppers was informed that Stines was storing body parts in her refrigerator.
After being found, McGee was arrested in Chesapeake, Virginia, and returned to Brooklyn on Friday, the DA's office stated. NBC New York claimed that McGee was imprisoned in Virginia for an unrelated crime.
