Murphy, McCollum help Pelicans beat Trail Blazers 110-100

PORTLAND, Oregon News Agency — Trey Murphy III led the New Orleans Pelicans to a 110-100 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. Murphy III scored 31 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Pelicans.

During the game against his previous team, C.J. McCollum scored 29 points and made five three-pointers. Zion Williamson, on the other hand, contributed 22 points and seven rebounds for the Pelicans.

After shooting 15 of 22 from the field, Deandre Ayton led the Trail Blazers in scoring with 30 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. In addition to his career-high 15 assists, Scoot Henderson finished with 19 points. The Portland team also received 14 points from Kris Murray.

Trey has done an incredible job stepping in and becoming a starter," stated Willie Green, the coach of the Pelicans. Our reliance is on him. As a result of his shot-making, it is difficult to assist CJ and to assist Zion respectively.

By virtue of the victory and Phoenix's defeat to the Clippers, New Orleans moved up to sixth place in the Western Conference and eliminated themselves from the play-in.

It was the first time since Lonzo Ball in 2017 that a rookie player had both 10 points and 10 assists in a half.

Henderson became the first rookie to accomplish this feat by scoring 12 points and dishing out 10 assists in the first half. He also established a new record for assists by a rookie for the team with his 15 assists.

Henderson has stated that his performance was satisfactory. When I was attempting to get guys engaged, they hit shots, and I was successful. It's as easy as that."
