Light earthquake shakes Southern California desert near Coachella.  

California  – There was a slight earthquake that occurred on Saturday in the Southern California desert close to Coachella  

which is the location of the well-known music festival that is taking place this weekend. Injuries and damage were not recorded at any time.  

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake, which had a preliminary magnitude of 3.8, occurred at 9:08 a.m.   

around 8 miles (13 kilometers) northeast of Borrego Springs in Riverside County.  

About twenty miles (32 kilometers) to the southeast of Coachella was where the epicenter was located.  

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the impact occurred at a depth of around 7 miles (11 kilometers).  

An employee of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department who works as a dispatcher stated that there were no calls that reported any problems caused by the earthquake.
