Kevin Costner reveals 'Yellowstone' bombshell following leaving turmoil

Even though he left "Yellowstone" after five seasons, Kevin Costner wants to return. The Taylor Sheridan series "Yellowstone" included Costner, 69, as patriarch John Dutton. He appeared in Season 5's first half until January 2023. Part two is planned in November after the actors strike and cast changes.  

"I'd like to be able to do it but we haven't been able to," Costner told Entertainment Tonight Tuesday. "I thought I was going to make seven (seasons) but right now we're at five." "Maybe this will come back to me. If it happens and I'm comfortable, I'll do it." Costner told ET his character "needs to be proactive" but Sheridan makes the decisions. "I told him that before. I had theories, but we'll see "relating to interactions with the writer and creator.  

September's Santa Barbara child support hearing was the Oscar-winning actor's first public discussion of his "Yellowstone" departure. The hearing was related to Costner's February divorce from Christine Baumgartner.  

According to People and Fox News, Costner testified that a “long, hard-fought negotiation” over breaking Season 5 of the Western drama into two parts was the final straw that caused him to depart the Paramount Network series. “I’ve been told it’s a little disappointing that (it’s) the No. 1 show on TV (and) I’m not participating,” Costner stated on the stand. “I’ll probably sue.”  

After "Yellowstone" Season 5 was split in half, Costner, who is producing, directing, starring, and co-writing four-part Western "Horizon: An American Saga," “changed” his movie schedule to shoot the first part. “That’s a big deal in this world.”  

Costner acknowledged returning for "Yellowstone" Season 6 was "complicated." on the stand. Kevin Costner reveals he battled for 'Yellowstone' revival. And "We did negotiate," he said. Creativity was an issue. I attempted log jam removal. They left."

After Season 5's second half, Paramount announced the conclusion of the Costner-led "Yellowstone" original series in May. A "Yellowstone" franchise sequel starring Matthew McConaughey will follow the show.
